    Time Event
    4:49p
i swear that you don't have to go
The Text on the Dancefloor tour is officially closed. Last night we said goodbye to Melee and Mayday Parade and the night before that Fall of Transition. Though the tour was not without heaps of drama*... our last show(s) were fun and I'm pretty happy with how it all ended.

Though I'm not happy with how last night's show was. There was a great crowd in a nice big room with our gear all over the place. First song: Truffles. Right before the song ends... the unthinkable happens. I BREAK A FUCKING STRING. On that huge upright bass with flatwound strings. So the band jammed out on Truffles and wound up evolving it into a pretty sweet, albeit bassless version of Highway to Hell by AC/DC while I changed my string in record time (it was the E-string for the music buffs out there). Got it done pretty fast but it was really stressful and threw me off quite a bit. Plus our set had a time restriction because Spitalfield was going on after us (another story for another LJ) which made it all the more hectic. So ridiculous.

Anyways... the only other notable thing that I feel like mentioning was after our show in Gainesville, FL, Wheatus, Mayday Parade, and Fall of Transition went to a Checkers to hang out after the show. I was sitting with Kevin and Gerard from my band and Derek, Cabbage, Alex, and Brooks from Mayday when a seemingly ordinary homeless guy comes over and asks to play harmonica for us. We say yes. He winds up being an AMAZING player and he was a legit jazz musician from in the 50's, name dropping some incredible friends. His name was Alan Johnson, and he played for us and talked about music and his life for about an hour. He was playing to try to raise enough money to get down to Tampa. I don't know shit about jazz and even I was impressed (Gerard and Kevin were AMAZED). It was definitely one of the tour highlights.

    That is all for now.

*Said drama WILL be documented in full now that the TOTD tour is over... but I'll need some time to get it done. Plus it'll be so long you won't want to read it anyway. So eff off.
